What to Expect

The first visit will include a discussion of your child’s speech and language history as well as an assessment.

After I have analyzed the results of the assessment, I will provide a consultation and advise whether direct intervention is indicated. If direct intervention is warranted, I will formulate a treatment plan with goals specific to your child’s needs. I will go over this with you, and together we will come up with a treatment schedule.

Sessions are generally weekly, and can be 30, 45 or 60 minutes in length.  Parent(s) are asked to sit in for the last 5-10 minutes of each session so they can see what we have worked on.

In order to maximize progress in between sessions, exercises are provided for children to practice as much as possible. Repetition is crucial in order for new skills to become ingrained and hence improve comfort and confidence.
